Dinner Tips for Busy Parents + Giveaway!

Weaver Chicken NuggetsI would be lying if I said that I am not happy the Holidays are past us. I am sad that the season is over but at the same time happy that all the madness is gone. Although I love Thanksgiving and Christmas and always have, I find that we as a family are trying to schedule too much during those four weeks and it often means less time as a family especially around the dinner table.

This year there were many times that I had to think quick and find something healthy for dinner and kid-approved since they are going through a “picky stage” right now. Luckily we have Weaver Chicken Fun Nuggets always in the freezer. Not only are they healthy but their fun dinosaur shapes make for fun times and conversations. I often pair these easy nuggets (hello microwave!) with celery sticks with peanut butter, cucumber slices or even grapes and strawberries for an easy and quick meal. Add some whole wheat rolls on the side and you have a complete meal.

And the best part is you can enjoy Weaver Chicken Nuggets anywhere…including your living room! That’s right…one of our favorite activities is enjoying a meal or two as an indoor picnic or camping event. Simply place a blanket on the floor, let the kids create their own “tents” from chairs and sheets…turn down the lights and enjoy a great meal indoors but still camping. This is a nice way to add some excitement to the dinner meal and bond as a family. I know my girls love it when I act like a kid and do something fun with them like a picnic.

And there is good news! Weaver Chicken (a part of Tyson) is offering ONE MONTH of Chicken Nuggets for FREE (one each week) to one lucky reader.

Since becoming a Mom creativity has become synonomous with my name! Simple things like Campbells Pot Roast Soup and using Bisquick drop biscuits on top, have been the fair in our home! It is inexpensive, quick, easy, and helpful, especially on Game Nights! I have 5 children, who are all involved with one sport or after school activity almost every evening. So meals need to be fast, filling, nutritious, and taste good; which can sometimes be a challenge! The Special meals are saved for Special Occasions, that in itself make them Special! :) Hubby or the kiddo’s favorite meal of choice on their Birthday, Holiday meals are give me, and on the RARE occassion that Hubbie and I get to spend an evening alone…we do what we did when we were dating…we hit the kitchen and prepare Candle Light Dinner fair…you cannot believe the bonding you can have over Wine and chopping and sauting!

For special occasions as holidays, birthdays or sometimes just because I make a favorite meal for the special person or for the whole family!

Hi – I like to introduce a new meal every week or so. The rest of the week I serve standards or new dishes that were a “hit” previously.,

jennifer December 27, 2011 at 3:54 pm

meals are special at my house because we always sit together at the table and talk about our day’s highlights!

megan cromes December 27, 2011 at 5:01 pm

i always sit down with my son and have him tell me all about his day.;)

debbi December 27, 2011 at 6:02 pm

I always try to make our suppers special, no matter what we are eating, by making dinner time as cheerful and unhurried as possible. We eat supper as a family every night, so it is less important what we eat and most important that we enjoy our time together.
I do try to serve my family’s favorite foods often, and my daughter would eat chicken nuggets for every meal, if I’d let her, lol! She will be thrilled if I win this!!

I try to find at least one new recipe every week or two that everyone will like. On special occasions, like birthdays I try to fix a special meal based on that person’s favorites. My grandson would eat chicken nuggents every night if I would let him so winning this would be great.

For quick and easy meals you can take a pack of biscuts, flatten them out put on sauce and cheese and my family loves these. I want these coupons so bad my son loves “nuggs” as he says and Weaver is much better for him than McDonalds. Thanks as usual for the great giveaways!!

Pat Johndro December 28, 2011 at 8:38 am

I love chicken nuggets for those qick unexspected meals for little ones when they come visit. I also like to take them and put some in a bowl with BBQ sauce and heat in microwave a minute, then put the nuggets in a sub roll. Delicious!

Dee W December 31, 2011 at 10:36 am

What I’ve done to make meals special, and switch it up and give the kids something to look forward to, I bought some new cookbooks. I bought a few children’s books, and others for the older kids. Each week one child will pick what dinner will be, and they get to help prepare it. It’s been really nice, and I’m glad we’ve done it.

My kids like to help make the meal and pretend to be the waiter/waitress. Their favorite part is when we play a game while eating and say things like “eat something that grows in the garden.” Each of us takes a turn to come up with tricky ones.

victoria lester January 1, 2012 at 6:40 pm

Our family activities at meal time are typically talking about how our day is at work or how our daughter’s day is at school or friends.
