2-D Hanging Earth {Frugal Crafts}

by Jess on April 11, 2013

earth-day-craft-projectSince Earth Day is right around the corner, we are looking forward to spending some time cleaning up our garden and getting ready for Spring planting.  We found an easy craft to remind us that Earth Day is coming and constructed our own two dimensional hanging Earth!  This one is thrifty, fun and a little messy but worth reminding us of the special day.

Materials Needed:

  • Finger-paint
  • Finger painting Paper
  • Scissors
  • String or Ribbon

Instructions:

  1. On a clean piece of finger painting paper, fill a page of blue handprints, let dry for 5-10 minutes.
  2. With clean hands, fill the whit spaces with green handprints.  It’s okay if they overlap.  You want to create the look of the Earth.
  3. Let your page dry for a few hours.  At this point you can do the same on the opposite side of the paper if you want a two dimensional effect.  Just let each side thoroughly dry.  Otherwise, proceed to the next step.
  4. Cut out a large circle to make your own planet.
  5. Attach ribbon or string (we used green and white bakers twine) with a small piece of tape on the back of your Earth.
  6. Hang wherever you desire
